Academics

At the heart of St. Anne School is an experienced, fully certified faculty devoted to seeing that every student masters a consistent academic curriculum, from kindergarten through eighth grade. The school features individualized instruction, computer based learning centers in classrooms, and after school tutoring by teachers. Spanish is mandatory for all grades, K-8, and accelerated pre-algebra and algebra are taught in the middle school grades. Latin, National History Day and Science Fair participation is mandatory in grades 6-8.

"No matter how nervous I was entering into high school, I was well prepared. After having Spanish and Algebra, I was able to enter classes confidently. St. Anne's helped to pave the way for a smooth transition into the next stage of my academic career." -Kati Tafelski, Class of 2006

Achievement

St. Anne School students have distinguished themselves in local and national competitions, including three recent Science Fair Grand Champions in junior high, citations from the John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and nationwide Gold key writing awards from Scholastic Magazine. Geography, spelling, and history bees are held often, and academic excellence is recognized by an honor roll.

Activities and Athletics

Learning by playing is encouraged for all students.  Each child is provided the opportunity to participate in team and group activities including:

  • School sponsored soccer, basketball, cheerleading, football, and baseball teams
  • Honors band and chorus
  • Middle school clubs
  • Yearbook
  • Boy Scout Troop 6

“For over 30 years, I’ve coached basketball to 4th and 5th grade girls.  Though a number played high school and college ball, the greatest satisfaction is the smile on every child’s face and the great support from St. Anne parents.  I feel thankful, and know all the girls are learning the game and having fun right from the start.” -Don Paul Platt, CYAA President

Affordable

Compared to similar private schools, a St. Anne School education is amazingly affordable.  Tuition assistance, financial aid, and other financial programs are available to all.  In addition, no Catholic child will be denied access to St. Anne School due to financial needs.

“Catholic education is worth every cent.  The value is reinforced by the high academic standards, the loving atmosphere, and the wonderful community of St. Anne's. -Janice Wolfe, parent

Atmosphere

St. Anne School is a Catholic school supported by two very active parishes in the Harrisburg Diocese:  St. Anne Church and St. John Neumann Church.  Daily prayer, regular Mass, the Sacraments, the Lives of the Saints-as well as numerous charitable activities form the part of the daily life of every student.

“I like St. Anne School because everyone here is nice.  Kids, teachers, the principal, everyone!” -Trenton Clements, student

Attentiveness

The school recognizes that being spiritual means always being present and attentive:  to students, parents, and God.  The staff treats each child as unique, God-given, and responsible.  The principal and all the teachers know every child by name.  Right choices and virtue are encouraged and practiced.

Jesus said, “Let the children come to me and do not hinder them.” The goal is to provide solid Catholic education and formation of our children; as well as helping the children come to know the love and saving grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
-Father Norman Hohenwarter, Pastor, St. Anne Church
