Third Grade

Highlights:

      • Learn and practice using study skills in Social Studies and Language Arts.
      • Edit sentences at the board and at our seats.
      • Memorize our multiplication and division facts.
      • Have a weekly estimation contest.
      • Have a biweekly Famous American contest in the classroom
      • Have a special Volcano "ERUPT-A-THON"—students build their own volcanoes and erupt them in the science lab.

Third graders live the Jesus Attitude as they:

  • Collect money every month for the Holy Childhood Association.
  • Collect items at Thanksgiving or at Christmas and at Easter for Hope House, a residential facility for patients with AIDS, in Manheim Township that is run by Catholic Charities. Students donate household items such as paper and plastic goods and make cards for the residents.

 

Fourth Grade

    Highlights:

    • Begin the year with a unit on the Light of Christ, emphasis on Bible Study.
    • Have a PA History Fair in May to share their knowledge of PA.
    • Use math and science text links for research and activities.
    • Our field trips may include Central Park and the new Lancaster Science Factory.
    • Collect money every month for the Holy Childhood Association.
    • Say the rosary for all intentions mentioned by the students.

 

Fifth Grade

    Highlights:

    • Create a state-in-a-box project in class and design a brochure in Computer class.
    • Are “buddies” with Kindergarten for reading and “Kid Writing”.
    • Detail reading progress with "Reading Keys"—they fill-in keys for each of the books read each marking period.
    • Have family members, relatives, and friends complete entries in a Travel notebook sent around the USA.  Students receive postcards with information about the places where the notebook has traveled.
    • Complete an Embryology unit each spring.

    Fifth graders live the Jesus Attitude as they:

    • Collect money every month for the Holy Childhood Association.
    • Add prayers and change the hymnals for Saint Anne Church.
    • Collect food and clothing for the Water Street Rescue Mission
    • Make cards for the St. Anne Church Christmas dinner.
